Goat Milk SoapOur goats provide us with an abundance of fresh milk and in an effort to find more ways to utilize their milk, we began making cold process soaps. We enjoyed our handcrafted soap creations, and family and friends did too! They were so popular that we began to offer our soaps for sale locally at craft shows. Our customers appreciate that our soaps are made with minimal ingredients, are free of dyes, contain no artificial ingredients or harmful chemicals (Lye is used as part of the process but evaporates from soap), and comes in their choice of 100% Essential Oils or tantalizing Fragrance Scents.

What is Cold Process Soap?Cold Process soap is one of the more popular ways to make soap at home. When you combine oils and lye it creates a chemical reaction that we refer to as the saponification process. Saponification creates heat as part of the process, but no additional heat is required to create the soap. In comparison, Hot Process soap is actually cooked over heat continuously in a slow cooker fashion.
Soap is cured for 6 weeks after being made to allow water to evaporate and harden the bar. |
Why Goat Milk in Soap? Using raw goat milk in soap has many benefits. Goats milk is high in alpha-hydroxy acids like lactic acid. These can help remove dead skin cells by breaking down the bonds holding them together. What most people don't know is that soap only cleans and strips oils from skin and doesn't moisturize, regardless of supermarket ads. By adding goat milk to soap, which has a high cream content, we lessen the degree of which the soap strips oils. The idea is to get soap to strip the dirty top layer of oils and not upset the delicate balance your skin needs to stay hydrated. Using goat milk soap makes for a more gentle clean. Goats milk also has an array of vitamins and minerals that will leave your skin feeling pampered!
